Fishing Report

Ice Fishing and Steelhead Fishing

The ice fishing on Mackay reservoir has been on and off. There have been days when fishermen are reporting limits of kokanee, and other days when a fish is hard to come by. The kokanee have been bigger this year, with reports of 14 to 16 inch fish being landed regularly. On slow days, people with cameras report the fish are there, just not biting. Every once in a while a nice rainbow is caught, and most people are jigging with wax worm tipped jigs or Swedish Pimples.

The warmer weather the past few days has made the river quite fishable, and a few die-hards are getting out for some steelhead fishing. We saw a 32 inch male that was caught yesterday on a spoon, below the Pahsimeroi. Nice fish!
