Jimmy Smith Lake

Idaho Fish and Game is hosting a kids ice fishing derby here on Saturday, January 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  There will be a big fish contest and prizes for all!  Must be present to collect prizes at 2:00 p.m.

Fishing at Jimmy Smith has been really good this winter- lots of trout and nice sized ones too.

Mackay Reservoir

Mackay has been giving up some nice rainbows, but the kokanee fishing has been somewhat slow.  Some folks are getting their limit of kokanee, but no large ones have been reported.

Salmon River

The river has been clear from the Pahsimeroi down to Salmon, and steelhead are being caught.Shrimp, casting spoons or black flies are the preferred tools around here in the winter.

The Big Lost River

The river below the dam is flowing at about 80 cfs, making for low clear conditions and some tricky fishing.  Stealth, and midge dries and nymphs will be necessary.
