Salmon River Steelhead Fishing Report

Idaho Fish and Game announced this morning the fishing will continue through the rest of the season as normal. Fish has steadily improved this week as warmer temperatures have warmed the water and fish are been more active.  Fishing pressure has been light, but we expect to see more anglers with the announcement out.

There is still a lot of ice above Challis but the river is starting to make some good channels.  Cottonwood is accessible and  the river and ramps are clear until Red Rock north of Salmon.

Bunny Bugs, darker spey flies, and nymphs have been productive. Try copper , brass , and blue spoons for conventional tackle.
