Fishing Report

Steelhead fishing around Challis is been fantastic with this mild winter we've had. Fish have already made it up in good numbers, and river conditions have been perfect. Swinging large dark colored flies (nymphs or streamers) are working best, as well as spawn sacks and cured shrimp for bait casters. Rainbow and cutthroat have been on fire, taking nymphs and streamers, and good old nightcrawlers.

Ice fishing at Mackay reservoir is still good, but be careful out there and check ice conditions before venturing too far out. Nice 10-12 inch kokanee are being caught, always with pink jigs and wax worms. A Swedish Pimple above the jig is always a good addition.
